You will have a pre-treatment consultation with your administering medical professional, where they will come up with a treatment plan and go over any pre-procedure instructions.
They will also give you post-treatment care directions to ensure proper healing. For example, avoid using harsh chemicals, makeup, or cleansers on the skin. Remember that your skin is regenerating after a microneedling treatment. Therefore, you will want to be gentle on your skin. Stay hydrated and out of the sun, avoid tanning beds, and avoid vigorous activities such as exercise.
An appointment typically lasts about an hour, with pre-screening and prep time included. The microneedling itself is usually only 30-45 minutes long.
The tool mimics a pen, with the end containing small needles that will gently puncture the skin. The procedure is essentially painless, with only mild discomfort reported in highly sensitive areas such as the upper lip.
It is normal for your skin to feel warm or tight and have a red or pink tint as a result of the mild irritation caused by the treatment.
